What are polyphenols?
These are compounds that are famous for their antioxidant properties. They are found in different parts of plants, from the fruit to the roots. They work by neutralizing free radicals, i.e. compounds that violate the skin’s protective barrier. The result is dryness, irritation and a faster aging rate.
Polyphenols are divided into many classes. Among them are, among others anthocyanins, phenolic acids, flavonoids, lignans and stilbenes.
